Dealing with Workplace Harassment: The Joke is on Me

It seems everyone is having belly aching laughter at my expense. They aren’t poking fun out of a mean spirit. In some way they sympathize with me; but still the joke is on me.

There is a reason employees usually ‘grin and bare’ whatever mistreatment they experience at work. It is that the isolation, malice, vindictiveness and revenge that plays out afterwards is just too unbearable.

In this economical pressure cooker, no one wants to lose their job; but I think, no one should put up with abuse either.

So, I will sit here and watch them laugh, but inside, I will maintain my resolve to fight for my own justice. I wont be the victim in this; if anything, my legacy will be that I stood up for my rights.

While they laugh, I will sing Bob Marley’s redemption song.

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery,
None but our self can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
‘Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Some say it’s just a part of it,
We’ve got to fulfil de book.”

Many people suffer in silence; ridden by stress and abuse. Workplace harassment is a reality. It is abuse just like physical abuse! We should not tolerate it just because someone is paying us every month. I encourage you to rise up and protect yourselves. Report it and stop this immoral occurrence in the workplace.
