Canteen Food, Today I ate poison

Food is essential to life, without it, eventually we die. The people who served my lunch, back then, were not so pleasant and this statement is an understatement. That day, my order was mixed up and I requested that it be corrected. Needless to say, if looks could kill, you would have heard about my funeral.

They redid the order and I received an oily, burnt substitute.

This I did not notice until I had already started. For people like me, food can also be death. For the duration of that day, my sensitive tummy started to hurt, gripe, complain and Lord knows the heights of discomfort I suffered. I prayed that I would just throw up. I couldn’t even walk home as I usually do.

Why is it that people who are in a position where they are your only source to get food, conveniently, can be so unpleasant, mean, disgruntled almost evil?

Does anyone remember the movie, where a woman prepared and sold her food with Love and good things happened to those people? Well the opposite is true.

When people treat you with despise, the same ends up in your food and I am sure I don’t need to highlight what else can get in there as well.

“A few years after, a coworker showed me the big, fat fly parked nicely in the meat! Yuck! They told her it was thyme. Really!!! She had the picture to prove it wasn’t so.

I was forced to prepare my food and take with me or buy elsewhere, which is not only a huge inconvenience by itself; but there goes the thousands of $$$ I could save monthly. Cafeteria lunch is free.

But seeing as my lunch was being poisoned by hate, annoyance, spite and all manner of bad things and spirit; Praying over lunch is even more necessary. Nonetheless, I have changed my perspective and looked at it as God allowing a path, where I am forced to plan, prepare and monitor my own meals.

I am certain many of you have shared my experience and I encourage you to pray over every meal; not only to safeguard yourself, but to thank the Father for all he has provided.

Many people suffer in silence; ridden by stress and abuse. Workplace harassment is a reality. It is abuse just like physical abuse! We should not tolerate it just because someone is paying us every month. I encourage you to rise up and protect yourselves. Report it and stop this immoral occurrence in the workplace.
