Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has explained the reason for the absence of winger Raheem Sterling.

The Englishman was dropped for the match by new manager Enzo Maresca, and he was not happy about that.

After the match, Maresca was asked if he thinks Sterling will stay at the club.

” I don’t know. All I can say is that it was technical decision.  Over the next few days, we will probably get more clarity on the situation, but there is nothing more to it. It applies to everyone that they are Chelsea players, and we will try to make use of them. But it is nothing more than a technical decision.”

I want Raheem Sterling, but I also want the other 30 players we have. There isn’t room for them all. So, some of them have to leave the club, it says.

The 29-year-old Sterling has a contract until the summer of 2027.
