It must certainly be a difficult and embarrassing moment for not only St Kitts and Nevis sprinter Tameka Williams, but her country as well.
Tameka Williams was sent home after admitting to her coach and officials that she had taken a banned substance. The St.Kitts Athletics management team did the honourable thing and sent Ms. Williams home; but this still caused a stink in the Athletics world.
There are opinions been thrown that she should be banned from the sport for her irresponsible actions. It will be an interesting development to watch in the coming weeks just to learn how she came about using the banned substance and whether it was unintentional or not.
For Jamaica, this is certainly too close to home for comfort. Doping is a practice that is greatly frowned on by Jamaica and the Caribbean community at large. Why? because we have such great natural talent, coaches and genes.
