Calabash 2014, as said by many at the festival, is a world class event featuring some of the best poets, writers and authors in the world. This bi-annual event featured many great writers such as Jamaica Kincaid, Zadie Smith, Sir Salman Rushdie, Mukoma wa Ngugi, Wanjiku wa Ngugi, Ngugi Wa Thiongo, Alwyn Scott, and Valzhyna Mort; who were also some of my favorites.
Each day brought sound memories from gifted poets and authors who in their own way captivated the minds and hearts of every patron present. Check out the Calabash Schedule from May 30 to June 1, 2014.

Thanks for these pieces on Calabash. They’re short, powerful and a stark reminder to self to put the event on my calendar from now. I’ve never experienced it and am looking forward to my first one.
