Paris Summer Olympics 2024: Medal Count for August 4, 2024

The 2024 Paris Olympics on this day August 4, 2024, was full of thrills and upsets. Shericka Jackson of Jamaica did not start in the women’s 200m and Kishane Thompson grabbed silver in the 100m finals. Let’s just say Jamaicans are not amused with the Paris Olympics at all.

As of August 4, 2024, the United States has taken the lead in the medal tally with an impressive 71 medals, including 19 golds. China follows closely with 45 total medals and 19 golds, while the host nation, France, has accumulated 44 medals, including 12 golds. Australia and Great Britain are in fourth and fifth places, respectively. South Korea, Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany round out the top ten, showcasing strong performances across multiple events.
Jamaica, ranked 44th, has secured two silver medals and one bronze. The nation is recovering from the disappointing outcome of the men’s 100m finals, where Noah Lyles won gold and Kishane Thompson received a silver medal. Jamaica hopes to improve its standing as the competition progresses.

Men’s 100m Final: Noah Lyles vs. Kishane Thompson
The men’s 100m final was a thrilling showdown between Noah Lyles of the USA and Kishane Thompson of Jamaica and the six other runners who caught them at the finish line. Lyles, known for his remarkable back-end speed and competitive edge, won but faced stiff competition from Thompson, who has been in excellent form throughout the season.
This race was one of the most anticipated events of the Olympics, and a highlight of the track and field competitions.
