Same Book, Different Chapter 9: Surviving and Rebuilding My Life After Migrating

The Nose Bleeds

Never have I had a nose bleed, in my entire life, never! Well, as far as I can recall, up until this morning.

It has been a month, to the day that I moved here and the cold has been like a persistent foe, as I always feared. Though it is now March, and not the peak of the winter season, being from the tropics, it is still a daunting encounter.

For many mornings, I have had blood clots / bloody mucus in my nostrils; a grim reality, seeing as I have never encountered this problem before.  I tried changing my blankets and sleepwear. That didn’t work. My head and when I woke, my shoulders, were exposed to the cold, dry air.

Then I researched the issue, as I am oft to do. My findings revealed that dry air is typically the problem. So, i eventually bought a humidifier. Night one into morning one, no blood cuts found. Night two, into morning two i have a nose bleed after just lightly clearing my nose.

I have never had a nosebleed in my life and the sight of seeing my own blood gushing down my face honestly moves me to anger. But … I will tackle the problem with the same resilience I do everything else until I master the situation.
