Here is another write up, from someone who has had a great experience here in Jamaica. Enjoy the post from OK Namaste.
One of my very favorite aspects of travel is trying local foods. Here are a few items worth seeking out if you ever find yourself in Jamaica, Bob Marley’s homeland.
1. Jamaican Meat Patties
Spicy, savory meat in a flaky turmeric pastry crust.
2. Ackee and Saltfish Scrambled Eggs
A traditional breakfast food you may have to request, as it is not popular with tourists. The fish flavor is quite intense, and the shiny egg and oil runoff is great for sopping up with a piece of toast.
3. Ting Grapefruit Soda
I was expecting Fresca when I chose this locally bottled soda, but the grapefruit flavor is much more intense. It is super-sweet, so it makes a good mixer, but I drink it by itself in the afternoons when I am sleepy from the sunshine and need a shot of sugar.
