Lottery gambling is highly addictive. Millions of people across the world purchase billions of Lottery Ticket annually.

Tickets are bought as gifts, entertainment and as an income source to many families. But for some, it is a constant vice. Many people spend most if not all their income on the lottery in hopes of getting a multimillion dollar payoff. People, who find themselves purchasing tickets on a regular basis, for instance every day or multiple times in one day, are addicted to gambling. On the other hand, there is hope to recovering from gambling addiction. There are strategies that once correctly implemented will minimise the lure or practice of gambling.

Addictions of any kind lessen the value of our daily lives. It impacts our daily interaction and relationship with our family, friends and co-workers. The area that is most negatively affected is our finances. When you use up all your financial resources on betting or buying Lottery Ticket s the result can be financial, professional and personal ruin. Especially where young children and families are involved the effects are devastating to them as well.

The first step is identifying and admitting that you are addicted to Lottery Ticket gambling. If you derive

immense pleasure from spending money on tickets, but do not have the will power to cease the activity, then you have a gambling addiction. This process cannot be fully effective unless you identify the need to change your life habits in regards to gambling.

Once you believe that Lottery Ticket gambling is a significant problem in your life, identify how much you have spent on them. If you buy one ticket every day, for maybe 300 days of the year, multiply that by the cost. You will find that the amount is significant. This number will add up exponentially if you purchase multiple tickets per day.

Some persons will find that they spend thousands of dollars annually on their gambling addiction. These thousands of dollars could be invested in paying off loan, house, car and credit card debts. If it helps, keep a written record of your spending, this is also a very convicting method. The money spent on purchasing Lottery Tickets can be allocated to monthly expenses or gifts for your family, friends or you. Also think about investing your money in stocks or bonds.

Do not put yourself in the position to be tempted into buying Lottery Tickets. Minimise your visits to gas stations and convenience stores. Stock up prior, with items that usually have you making impromptu trips to these places. If your daily route takes you past these places change your route.

The less exposure you have the more you will be able to lessen you’re addictive behaviour. Another method of controlling your addiction is to keep a small amount of money on you. You are less likely to spend money you do not have. This includes carrying your credit or debit cards. If possible do not carry them, if you must visit the stores that also sell Lottery Ticket s. Stop borrowing money and use the extra money you have to pay off debts. Indulging in Lottery Ticket gambling often promises huge winnings, but the likelihood of you winning is minimal.

I like to read and have to be careful as to how much I spend on books as it can get out of hand – yet I’ve always referred to my penchant for buying books as my beer and cigarettes since I neither smoke nor drink alcohol. 🙂
