Di fan start act like it nuh have sense,
spin slow‑slow like it tired fi live.
Mi beg it, “Please, jus’ blow one breeze,”
but fan only hum like it cyaan forgive.

It wobble like it drunk pon heat,
lean lef’, lean right, then freeze.
Mi tap it twice pon di rusty neck—
fan look at me like, “Mind yuh please.”

Sweat a run like mi deh a river,
shirt stick down like second skin.
Fan watch mi suffer in silence,
den blow one puff—weak like sin.

Mi plug it out, plug it in back,
shake it like mi a wake dead man.
Fan cough two time, spin one circle,
den stop again—traitor fan.

Neighbor shout, “Try turn it upside down!”
like she a fan mechanic pro.
Mi flip it, twist it, beg it mercy—
fan still refuse fi blow.

Mi start pray small prayer under mi breath,
“Lord, send breeze or send relief.”
Fan answer wid one last squeaky cry,
den dead clean—mi nearly grieve.

Mi stand up vex in di boiling room,
sun a beat like it waan compete.
Fan lie down pon di ground like hero,
fallen soldier in di summer heat.

An when breeze finally pass mi way,
soft and sweet like evening song,
mi whisper, “Thank yuh, Jesus,”
but mi still tell fan, “Yuh dead wrong.”
