Treasures of Colombia: Patacones con Todo (Colombian Street Food)

Everyone has a favorite “comfort food” and the ‘Patacones con todo’ at Restaurante Chidoloky is just that and more.

I was at home one Friday night feeling very lazy and of course…cooking was definitely not on the agenda – although I was dying of hunger. Naturally, I turned to plan B and that means – fast food!

Treasures of Colombia: Patacones con Todo (Colombian Street Food)

I called a friend of mine who owns a fast-food restaurant informing him that I was on my way to his establishment.

When my son and I got there my friend handed us the menu.

However, I wasn’t in the mood for burgers or hot dogs, so something else caught my eye. “Patacones con todo” Patacon is fried green plantain and “con todo” means with everything.

So the green fried plantain is placed at the bottom of the plate and then all the delicious meat toppings are placed top. These toppings include:

  1. Pulled beef
  2. Pulled chicken breast
  3. Ham
  4. Sausage
  5. Sautéed onions
  6. Tomato
  7. Lettuce
  8. Cheese

Patacon con Todo – Green Plantain with Everything

All these toppings really compliment the plantain, although, fried green plantain is just as great on its own. However, I must say that this dish was really a winner.

I will definitely return to the restaurant to get some more of this awesome goodness. It is also economical – it costs ten thousand pesos ($389 JMD).

Tip: You can also prepare this quick and easy dish in the comfort of your own home.
