Javon Francis will probably go down as one of Jamaica’s greatest 4x400m runner. This young man dominates the commentary when it gets to this race.
It is believed that if there are three other runners of his caliber, Jamaica would have easily taken gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics. However, we had to settle for a silver medal, as the USA anchored by LaShawn Merritt took the gold medal. Christopher Brown of the Bahamas clipped through to take the bronze.
The race gave us some anxious moments as Botswana maintained second place for the majority of the race. Jamaica dabbled with the fifth and fourth place until Javon Francis took the anchor leg. He made light work of Chris Brown, who also made light work of Botswana. In the end, everyone celebrated, Jamaica in its usual form and the crowd cheered loudly, this final night of athletics at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
